I painted this scenic view of an oasis in the high desert after a trip out west where we actually visited just such a place on the Black River. There in the middle of one of the hottest and most barren places I've ever been to was a very deep but small pool of water that had remained behind when the river had largely dried up on either end of it. All around were plants, birds and reptiles benefiting from the only pool of water for miles around. There were even birds singing! Enjoy the peace and serenity there...
