Description

Shadows is an acrylic painting on canvas that is one of my drizzle series, among the first. It was done on canvas-pad which is trimmed, gessoed canvas sheets sold in a pad like paper. It is perfect for drizzles when you want some pucker to occur to add to the textures.

I was looking across the street at my neighbor's homes and trees. One home had a gorgeous tree making a splendid shadow on the house. There were small garden plots here and there. It was the perfect set-up to challenge me to a drizzle composition utilizing light and shadow, and there was forming in my heart some inexplicable depth.

As the painting evolved, it began to morph into a representation of a saying "What took you so long to see the light of day, Whippersnapper?" And it is as if the wise old one is reaching out to the younger, less experienced one with some great wisdom.
